Why your belly fat wont budge!

One of the most common questions I get asked is how to get rid of stubborn fat, most commonly in the midsection. This is a tricky one because sometimes it’s not just about calorie input/output.

Why do you think we need body fat? To store energy? To cushion our organs? Yes, and so much more! Did you know our body fat also helps regulate our blood pH?

Our blood needs to maintain a pH of 7.3-7.4 to sustain life (slightly alkaline) but unfortunately, us modern humans consume a mostly acidic diet. Processed, refined and packaged foods take up literally 80% of the supermarket, all of which create acidity and toxicity in the body. This acidity is counteracted by many different detoxification processes in the body, in cases of high acidity and toxicity, one of these processes is the storage of toxic waste in fat cells.

To put it simply: when we consume so much toxic garbage that our bodies can’t keep up, fat cells are created to absorb the toxins and excess acid that we can’t flush out fast enough.

Our bodies are smart, it does what it needs to do to keep you alive. If you can’t get rid of that last bit of belly fat, it’s probably there for a reason. So what can you do?

Re balance your consumption. You don’t have to cut out everything acidic, just balance it out with more alkalising superfoods. Eat yo damn greens!! Ideally, you want to be consuming 80% alkaline and 20% acidic but if you’re new to this concept, just try to have at least 3 portions of greens or something that grew from the ground.

Be conscious with your eating, monitor how your body responds. Don’t let your choices run on autopilot, this is your only body!!
